What You SAW Might Not Be What You GET

ANNOUNCEMENT
Most of you are aware that Ethan was meant to enter Childcare tomorrow, 1st March. Also the day I start work. We went for orientation today with his grandparents and saw some things that completely appalled us all:

  • One carer was putting a baby gal down on the floor, she placed her down quite abruptly, causing the baby to fall & hit her chin - baby cried. All the carer did was put her back up again, without even checking if she was all right.
  • One baby was placed on mat for tummy time. He seems distressed having been placed front down for a while. No one bothered about him...coz other carers were busy feeding other babies. Baby got so tired he could not lift his neck any longer so his face fell flat on the floor, rubbing against the floor that everyone walked on, with shoes mind you.
  • One baby was having a bottle, milk dripped all over his shirt. His bottle fell on the floor & carer just picked it up & gave it back to him. No cleaning of shirt nor washing the bottle tit.
  • A baby was 'crawling' on some tiles...he tumbles & rolls & cries....no one picked him up. He was left to cry till one carer saw me staring, only then was he picked up & comforted.

Long story short, what we saw at the childcare centre the first time was completely different from what we saw today. I was told that there will be 4 babies to 1 carer, but today there were about 12 babies and we only saw 2 carers on ground.

Needless to say I could not bear to think what Ethan will be experiencing if we really put him in. I guess what really troubled us all was that each baby was certainly not given sufficient attention such that should they fall or hit their head, we wouldn't know would we? Is this a sign? I ask God...that I should see all these today?

Verdict - Ethan will now no longer go to Childcare. I have postponed my return to work till 2nd April and my mil will be back end March to look after Ethan.

Ethan's 1st Reunion Dinner & CNY

Being the only baby & 'toy-boy', Ethan was definitely the star of the day...

Have to admit that Brian & I were actually feeling quite 'sianz' coz there isn't much CNY mood here. And for the fact that we have not had Lou Hei for TWO YEARS, home was certainly very much missed. So we promised Ethan that next year we will be back in Singapore for CNY, to show him the true CNY festive spirit!

Meantime, Gong Hei Fatt Choy everyone!!

Here's Looking at You Babe

Was trying to teach Ethan to do the 'Gong Xi Gong Xi' gesture with his hands.... didn't quite work as yet obviously, but we got some pretty cheeky reactions when we played CNY songs in the background (with me doing some silly 'dong dong chiang' dance at the side).

Decisions Decisions Decisions...

A house will not stand if the Lord does not build it (Psalm 127:1-2). So we need to be sure that whatever we do is in faith and tust in the Lord. But there is no need to lie awake at night worrying, because the Lord gives sleep to his beloved. And if we sow in tears, we will reap with joy (Psalm 126:5-6). If we don't sow, we will reap nothing.

To stay or to go is the question we have been troubled with for the past week.

A family should stay together - is the answer for me,
But doubts & fear flood over me.
The Lord is the ROCK upon which I must rely on,
So with this, in faith & trust we go forth.
